For Peace River RV & Camping Resort: This place uses a bizarre lottery system to assign full hookup sites. Upon arrival we were instructed to temporarily find a water and electric site, park our rig without setting up and then come back to the office to get the lottery list. This list changes daily and it contains all of the available sites with a sewer connection. I walked back to the office and decided to hang around for the 2:00pm lottery announcement. Against all odds, our name was called towards the end. Yay! I then chose back-in site A18 without inspecting it first and boy was that a HUGE mistake! The site is a horrific sandpit with lots of deep ruts and dangerous exposed tree roots. Our rear wheel drive class A motorhome almost got stuck in deep sand several times. Trailers and fifth wheels should have no issues as the truck will have much better traction near the road. The site is also very unlevel. We did enjoy the fantastic tree shade though. Great hiking/biking trails along the river. Decent reception for our AT&T and Verizon phones. Excellent free wifi at the lodge. Clean bathrooms and showers. Above average laundry room facilities. The machines take quarters and credit cards, and it is only $1.75 to wash & dry. Lots of kids running around so watch your speed.

For Peace River RV & Camping Resort: Campground Name: Peace River RV & Camping Resort
Location: Wauchula, FL
Overall Campground Rating (1-5): 4
Maneuverability: No issues getting around with our trailer
Campground Notes: Sewer lottery in high use started after we arrived but we found an open FHU site. It appears many of the W/E sites will flood when it rains and always seemed to be pretty muddy. Strict noon check-in.
Site #: D7
Site Rating (1-5): 3
Site Notes: Full hook-up, 50 amp, grass site, picnic table, & fire ring. Medium sized spot, not too small but not large.
Amenity Rating (1-5): 4
Amenity Notes: Nice pool & hot tub, decent playground and mini-golf, laundry was very crowded when we went and could only do one load at a time but it was reasonably priced ($2 wash, $1.75 dry). Nice path along the Peace River and we were able to find a few shark teeth.
Reason for camping here: Thousand Trails winter shuffle
Miscellaneous Notes: Kind of in the middle of nowhere. Right off the highway but not too noisy at night.
Dates Stayed: 12/13/2020 – 12/20/2020
Price Paid: $0, with Thousand Trails membership
Weather: Beautiful weather during the day, low 70s, cooled off quickly when the sun went down.
Verizon Cell Quality: 2.6 Mb/s down, 9.8 Mb/s up
T-Mobile/Sprint Cell Quality: 33.9 Mb/s down, 19.1 Mb/s up
Mail: No issues, their mailroom accepts all packages and didn’t lose any like certain other Thousand Trail campgrounds. Also accepted outgoing mail. Staff was very friendly and efficient.
For reference we are pulling a 33’ long Jayco travel trailer with a 2016 F350 Crew Cab Short Bed 4x4 which is 22’ with hitch giving us a total length of 55’.
Verizon - two Google Pixel 2 XL on Verizon’s ‘Play More†unlimited data plans. For data we have an Inseego 8800L on Verizon’s expired prepaid unlimited hotspot plan. In areas of low signal we use a Netgear 6000450 MIMO antenna.
T-Mobile/Sprint – Alcatel Linkzone 2 on unlimited Calyx Institute Sprint/T-Mobile plan.

For Peace River RV & Camping Resort: I It’s hard to put in words our experience here. Our first surprise was that the park has sites that are split between full hook ups and water and electric only. Of course there were no full hookups available so you have to go into a lottery system, something not indicated on their website. After entering the campground my first thought was it looked like a refugee camp… We were lucky enough to come the day after a rainstorm and could see all the sites that were wet and underwater. We managed to actually get a decent site. Of course we stayed at peak season and arrived at 12:30pm and were lucky to get a site at all. We saw a lot of big rigs just going around and around looking for a place to park every day. Bathrooms were clean but small for the amount of sites. Dog run and laundry were a joke. Nice waking trail. Being members of Thousand Trails this is the worst park we stayed at so far.

For Peace River RV & Camping Resort: Based on prior reviews I thought this place was going to be a dump. Then I remembered, some people are just impossible to please.
The spaces are huge! Lots of full hook ups available with a ton more that are 30 amp, no sewer. I’m coming back in January and will probably just use those spaces for the privacy of not having a ton of neighbors.
Office staff was friendly and helpful... some of the turns can be a bit tight with a big rig.
Overall a nice campground.
