For Georgia Veterans State Park: We stayed in campground area 1 and had a site with a lake view. Nice mature trees in the camping area. Park overall is very well kept. We ate at the lodge restaurant and the food was good. The lodge and marina area is very pretty. My husband played golf and enjoyed the course. A lot of roadways in the park and we felt comfortable riding our bikes. The bathhouses are in need of an update otherwise I would have left 5 stars.

For Georgia Veterans State Park: Beautiful and well kept park. Huge sites. Very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the 3rd loop on site 58. Very private site with our door facing the woods. It was very nice not being on top of neighbors. Clean and well maintained bathhouse. We will be back!

For Georgia Veterans State Park: Spent 2 nights here for a quick Spring Break trip. Weather was perfect. Stayed on site 11. Nice level site angled so you have a an unobstructed lake view. Bring the fishing poles! My son caught a 3.5lb large mouth bass. Bathhouse was clean. Playground was in good condition. Campground Roads are narrow which was nice for kid safety. There was one REALLY tight spot between site 10 and 11. It’s nerve wracking, but even the Class As made it through.
There is nothing nearby to do except what is on the grounds. There are 2 gas stations just outside the park. One has a fully stocked “general store†that has a meat counter, small produce section, wine, beer, and all the grocery staples you could need. There appeared to be several little restaurants just outside the park, but as of April 2021 they were closed. I’m jot sure if they are seasonal or closed for good.
Explore the park! We checked out the veterans museum at the visitors center/camp registration building. Great display of military vehicles on site. The kids really enjoyed that. The marina was closed for boat rentals during the week, its still early for that though. The beach had a nice shallow swimming area, lots of shaded picnic spots, and a sand volleyball court nearby. The walking trails were easy and clear, good for little kids. We didn’t check out the frisbee golf, golf, or archery/air rifle range.
The SAM Shortline railway station is on site but check their schedule. As of now they only run on weekends.
We had lunch at the Marina Grill. Food was decent, but it was overpriced and the service was slower than molasses in winter. Save your money and eat on the rig. They do make good Bloody Mary though.
