Dairy State
For Elk Mountain Campground - Wind Cave National Park: First come, first served. It was surprisingly full by noon, midweek in September. Very open, few trees in the loop we were on. Roomy campsites, although some of the parking areas are rather short. No cell service at camping site but I had two bars if I climbed to the top of the hill. Two nice trails that dogs were allowed on.

Just a camper
For Elk Mountain Campground - Wind Cave National Park: Great NP campground. Primitive, and no showers but good for one night. No cell phone reception, so one star off.

Exseedman
For Elk Mountain Campground - Wind Cave National Park: Spent 3 days here in Late May exploring the caves and Rushmore. Very quiet and remote. Forget cell service. some sites are not very level. Park was never half full when we were there. It is off the beaten path. Of course, it was quiet! Park was clean and we could take the dog on a couple of trails approved for pets.
